Peer-learning and training spaces empowering biology students to write more and better
Scientists must master the art of scientific writing to effectively communicate their research. Getting there requires education and training. The Life Science Zurich (LSZ) Writing Lab aims at improving the quality of scientific writing among biology students at the University of Zurich. To reach this goal, it implements digital and traditional tools that facilitate student-to-student learning, training, and sustained motivation. The core innovation is the LSZ AllWrite app, which allows students to plan, monitor, and evaluate their scientific writing and engage in peer-learning activities.
The AllWrite app developed by the LSZ Writing Lab offers students in the Life Sciences at the University of Zurich (UZH) and at the ETH Zurich a multifunctional tool to access learning and training resources related to scientific writing, and to engage in interactions with writing peers, coaches and instructors.
AllWrite is currently available as a web application in a beta version. Members of UZH and ETH Zurich are invited to test the app and provide feedback. Registration and use of the app require a SWITCH edu-ID. AllWrite will be available as a mobile app for Android and iOS.
